Evenin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on SUNDAY, July 12, 2026. Where ya gotta love NBCU putting Obsession on PEACOCK starting this Friday, literally 2 months post-theatrical release, and a film still did $3.8M at the box office this weekend. This also means its PVOD window will be a whopping . . . 2.5 weeks. So, I’m sorry about UNI’s newfound commitment to the extended theatrical window (remember, we said 2027!) — we gotta have something to promote in the final World Cup windows on PEACOCK this week. The other programming PEACOCK launched for soccer fans in July curiously skews very female: Five Star Weekend, Married at First Sight and the streaming debut of Reminders of Him (which just dropped on Friday, a week before Obsession). Reminders of Him is a movie that was released in theaters 2 months before Obsession.

AND: Big tech’s bad acting never ceases to amaze, as META pulled its Muse AI-image tool that, gee, sure did get a lot of free attention for . . . ripping off all of its users without their consent. Silicon Valley PR tactics are so genius. CONGRATS: To 21-year-old Linda Nosková for taking the women’s Wimbledon championship yesterday, and to Italy’s Jannik Sinner on the men’s side, who won his second in a row. THEN: ENGLAND vs. NORWAY got 12.7M viewers on soon-to-be-acquired broadcaster ITV in the U.K., according to BARB overnights. The game kicked off at 10 p.m. local time.
- The peak number was 16.8M, far below the peaks for previous ENGLAND quarterfinal appearances in 2022 (21.3M) and 2018 (20M), although both were in friendlier time zones (Qatar and Russia).
YAH: Oregon withdrew its motion for PSKY to turn over communications documents with the federal government related to the WARNAMOUNT deal, and the subsequent 60-day period to review them.
- Thus, all eyes turn to the state AGs this week.
- Also, the EU’s next deadline is on Tuesday regarding the Middle East financing of the deal.
WAKEUP BOX OFFICE PREDICTION Yeah, the big short sellers won out on Moana vs. my, uh, small short-seller contingent of $54M to $59M.
