Evenin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on SUNDAY, June 28, 2026. Where it has been great to see the men’s World Cup players getting in the Hollywood spirit on the pitch with all of the nominees for the “best actor, flopping” entries we’ve seen this month so far. But ya gotta love Cape Verde making the knockout round — this was a fun story about how Cape Verde has become the team Ireland is rooting for since it’s the only team left with an Irish player (his father was from the country), and why a pub in Queens has become the place to watch the team. Unfortunately, that team is now playing Argentina on Friday . . . but never say never!

GOOD NEWS!: They found Gracie the giraffe in Texas! Turns out, she was at BONNAROO about 4 miles outside of the ranch’s borders. No word on how long she’ll be grounded. YEAH: The Freedom250 concert series really needs to take the hint — even Vanilla Ice’s concert was canceled on Friday, as Mother Nature wasn’t having it either. UH: HULU, you know I was just kidding on Friday when I said that there were only 3 business days left for you to buy or order new TV projects in June?
BTW: If you want to see the power of the World Cup on linear TV, here were the primetime audience averages for the week of June 15, according to NIELSEN:
- FOX: 4.6M
- TELEMUNDO: 3.7M
- FS1: 2.9M
- FOX News 2.3M
- NBC 2.25M
- ABC 2.2M
- CBS 2.1M
- MS NOW: 1.1M
- ESPN: 1M
BUT: The clip of the weekend goes to Mr. Met — the METS may be in last place in the NL East, but the team’s mascot is certainly winning on the sidelines.
WAKEUP BOX OFFICE PREDICTIONWell, I was correct in my Supergirl box office prediction 🥳. Unfortunately, I was shorting the movie — and it still came in at the bottom end of my spread projection.
