FIRE SCOTT JENNINGSTrump wants Kimmel fired. But Jennings and Jesse Watters get to keep their jobs?
Welcome to the world of Trump state media! Where people like CNN’s Scott Jennings and Fox’s Jesse Watters get to keep their jobs. But CBS’s Stephen Colbert is shown the door and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel works under a constant state of harassment by the Trump administration. The latest case in point came Thursday night on CNN’s 10pm program during which Jennings, a once Trump critic now paid to be a MAGA blowhard, yelled, “get your fucking hand out of my face” at Adam Mockler, a young progressive influencer. The two men were debating the merits of Trump’s disastrous, war of choice in the Middle East, when Jennings blew his top. Watch the video below: At any other network, in any other era of television news, uttering an impromptu F-bomb would be a fireable offense. Heck, it even got Ron Burgundy (“go fuck yourself, San Diego”) fired in “Anchorman.” And that wasn’t even Ron’s fault. Veronica, his love interest and co-anchor, inserted the expletive into the teleprompter. As Ron’s news director explained to the studio crew, Burgundy will read anything that is loaded into the prompter. But I digress. Jennings was a bit of a hot-head when I worked at CNN. I recall his glaring at me following one segment when I fact-checked him in real time. But wow, what happened Thursday night was next level. Mockler really got his goat. “I was only a few years old when you were in the (Bush) administration defending prior endless wars,” Mockler said, taunting Jennings. The face of the former White House aide under George W. Bush then grew a bright, CNN-chyron red. “Get your fucking hand out of my face!” Jennings cried, despite Mocker’s hand not being in his face. Lighten up, Scott! Mockler is almost a kid. And a nice one at that. Either way, Jennings should be fired. As James Earl Jones announces every so often in the network promos, “this is CNN.” Not an episode of the Jerry Springer Show. A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR: Keep Your SSN Off The Dark Web Every day, data brokers profit from your sensitive info—phone number, DOB, SSN—selling it to the highest bidder. And who’s buying it? Over at Fox, the main host of “The Five” as well as his own primetime program, Jesse Watters confessed to the audience that he was hustled away by Queen Camilla’s security this week, during the recent royal visit to the White House, after he joked about the crime in Washington D.C., a dumb quip that included a gun reference. Yes, to the Queen. His idiotic remark, Watters explained, came as he was discussing the White House beehive. “If the bees don’t get you, the guns will,” Watters recounted to his co-hosts. Again, in any other universe, an incident with royal security at the White House would at least earn a cable TV anchor a suspension. But Watters, like most of the stars at Fox, spew bile and propaganda with little to no accountability. Yet, switch the channel over to CBS and Colbert is riding off into the late night TV sunset, hosting his final programs before signing off, under pressure from the Trump administration on the now Ellison-owned network. But in the Trump state media universe that is emerging in America, there is apparently a new mantra: accountability for thee and not for me. Of course, with the Ellisons now gobbling up Warner Brothers Discovery, the parent company of CNN, the new management that is likely to take over the 24-hour cable news station could simply rehire Jennings if, in the unlikely event, he is tossed overboard. Make no mistake, the Ellisons, and their hand-picked executive now running CBS News and possibly CNN, Bari Weiss, would certainly relish the opportunity to rehire Jennings. But that is if he is unceremoniously terminated for his F-bomb fiasco. How the viewers would respond to that is another matter. The ratings for CBS News have already plummeted since Weiss seized control of the “House of Cronkite.” It is not unreasonable to predict she will likely have the same effect over at CNN. As a CBS News producer told me years ago, “the people who watch the CBS Evening News are smart fucking people.” Yes, they are. As are the good people who watch CNN. And I'll go out on a limb and state the obvious: the last thing the public wants, at this point, is f-ing Scott Jennings in their faces. You're currently a free subscriber to The Jim Acosta Show.
